Overview

As a Principal Security Architect on the Security Fundamentals Infrastructure Security team, you will design, implement, and optimize infrastructure security solutions across cloud and hybrid environments. Your contributions will directly reduce risk and support key business objectives.

In this hands-on role, you will collaborate with leaders, engineers, and program managers across multiple organizations, guiding teams to strengthen the security of their systems and services. You will actively develop and test security solutions with partner teams throughout Microsoft, and provide actionable feedback to product groups to enhance and secure their offerings.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field OR 7+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cyber security, anomaly detection, Security Operations Center (SOC) detection, threat analytics, security incident and event management (SIEM), information technology (IT), and operations incident response.

Other Requirements:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, cyber security, and infrastructure design.
  • 5+ years of experience architecting and building secure infrastructure in cloud/hybrid environments.
  • 5+ years of design and problem-solving skills, with a strong emphasis on quality and engineering excellence.
  • Technical background in Cloud security.
  • Hands-on experience with 1 or more clouds (Azure, AWS, and GCP).Deep knowledge in securing Windows, Linux, Kubernetes, Source Control platforms.
  • Experience designing and deploying scalable enterprise infrastructure security environments on-prem and across multiple clouds.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and AI as part of solutions.
  • Expertise in risk assessment and threat modeling.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IAM, network security, and cloud security implementations.
  • Demonstrated coding skills in one or more popular languages and platforms such as: C#, C++, Ruby, Python, and others.
  • Understanding of cloud security best practices and industry standards.
  • Experience with cloud security tools and technologies.
  • Ability to design and implement cloud security architecture and strategies.
  • Have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph


Security Operations Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
