We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to help shape accounting and financial processes in our device manufacturing business.

The Cost of Goods Produced (COGP) group in the Supply Chain Accounting team manages the product costing for Microsoft's devices. This Finance Manager - Supply Chain role will own the end-to-end accounting for freight and tariff expenses incurred in the manufacturing process for our Surface and Xbox device and accessories product lines.

Working with external partners (freight providers) and internal stakeholders (FP&A, Customs and Trade, and Corporate Accounting management), this Finance Manager role is responsible for delivering accurate monthly financial statements, providing insights to Accounting management, and effectively managing high-volume data to drive effective and timely analyses.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a specialist for freight and tariff expenses and their accounting treatment.
  • Create, review, and update standard and ad-hoc journal entries, account reconciliations, and management reporting.
  • Drive collaboration and accountability across various teams, including: Finance, Accounting, Operations, and other external partners.
  • Create clarity of business results and their accounting impacts.
  • Prepare and review accounting records in compliance with accounting policies and guidelines, interpret reports and records for managers/stakeholders, and provide support and troubleshooting to users. Investigate and resolve business partner inquiries, accounting deviations, and other data anomalies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Identify and manage business risk. Ensure controls are implemented and data security practices are adhered to.


Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 1+ year(s) accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experience OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge of cost accounting, manufacturing, and a supply chain background.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex data.
  • Proficient understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and SOX.
  • Demonstrated experience in systems and process improvement.


Accounting IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $76,800 - $151,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $100,800 - $168,000 per year.
